Understand the "Construction Triangle"

​The most painful lessons to learn are the ones you already know but decided not to follow...

Very Important for any business and customer to understand these simple rules; Quick, cheap and good...pick any two!

You can have "quick" and "cheap," but the quality ("good") is going to suffer.
You can have "good" and "cheap," but it is going to take time ("quick").
You can have "quick" and "good," but it is not going to be "cheap."

You can not have all three. When you try, expectations on both sides will suffer. The company will loose money because they tried to do it "cheap" and doing anything "quick" with quality ("good") costs more. The customers expectations are easily not met when all three are attempted to be accomplished because the customer focuses on "quick" and "good" even though their ultimate determining factor was really "cheap."

When "quick" is not attained because the funds were not in the budget to expedite materials, pay for overtime, sub contract and expedite services, then the customers expectation were not met because the deadline was exceeded.

To be "quick" and or "cheap" often times that means that corners have to be cut which may at times sacrifice quality ("good") that would not have been sacrificed if time would have permitted or budget been available to keep from cutting corners.

All stuff I have known and practiced for years...but needed to remind myself and any potential customers.

I am willing to do anything, but I must stand by this rule...quick, cheap and good...pick any two!
